Bio

Kyle grew up on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, surfing and studying photography through high school. Martin first worked for the infamous Surfer Magazine photographer Art Brewer, assisting Brewer's many successes of surf-wear catalogs. Soon Kyle was hired on as an editorial and advertising photographer for Surfer Magazine. Then the 17-year-old Martin, while covering a surf contest on the East Coast was approached to be photographed by fashion photographer Bruce Weber. Weber’s amazing shooting style torched Martin’s photo aesthetics. Weber then offered Martin to assist in his New York studio. And so Kyle's fashion career began..

In 1979 the infamous Wilhelmina uploaded Martin as a  her new talent photographer shooting first photos for new found talent. Soon Eileen Ford, Elite, Nina Blanchard, Mary Webb Davis agency's all did the same with Martin new talent photo success.
Martin soon was one of Men’s Italian Bazaar's youngest photographers with an invitation to shoot 10 pages for Men Bazaar in New York City. And then Fashion Model from Milan invited Kyle to come to come shoot there new faces while promising editorial projects for the many Vogues and other clients throughout the fashion capital. The many editorials made Martin known for his editorial prowess with hundreds of pages published over three years. Martin became a "gotta-have" regalia which led Martin to become highly desired to the industry's creative directors. Martin then settled on the west coast of California. For the next 30 years photographed fashion, artists, beauty, music, and celebrity personalities. His back-to-back Bugle Boy campaigns utilized Martin's naturally ignited style. His work in print glued on billboards, bus tails, bus shelters and subway walls was by seen by millions of North Americans.
Today Kyle shoots, surfs, and plays in California.

Kyle Martin’s heartfelt edgy sexy style celebrates a sense of gritty masculine strength as his photographs cajole, and seduce,..often in the same frame at the same time.

Kyle eventually discovered film destruction as a way to create photo art. Starting in 1985 through 2005 Kyle created by hand what today would be thought of as digital AI. way before its time!
